Goodbye Zenly, Hello Steps

Fear not, Zenly users - Steps is here!

It’s time to say goodbye to Zenly, the popular social mapping app that has helped millions of users track their friends and family members in real-time. Snap Inc., which acquired Zenly in 2017, recently announced that it will be shutting down the app on February 3, 2023 in order to focus its efforts elsewhere.

Founded in Paris in 2011, Zenly enabled users to see where their friends are on a map and easily navigate to each other. Over time, the app grew to include the ability for users to “map their world” by placing pins to their favorite places like bars, restaurants and shops, and discover new places based on where their friends had been.

The Zenly shutdown comes as a major surprise to many in light of the app being hugely popular in some parts of the world and attracting 35 million monthly active users by spring of last year. Fortunately, users who have grown to rely on the social mapping app for staying connected with friends and discovering new places can find a satisfying substitution for Zenly in Steps, a social mapping app with a global following.

Like Zenly, Steps enables users to join or create maps of places they're interested in. From street art to hiking trails, to date night spots, bars, restaurants and beyond, Steps users can join maps for whatever they’re into in order to discover new places and share about where they’ve been. By joining maps, Steps users become part of a community of like-minded people–and through real and recent insights–get to easily uncover the best places to spend their time.

Steps has a number of other useful features that make it a great fit for Zenly users. These include the ability to navigate to any location they find on a map, and have their own map featuring places they’ve liked, visited, or plan to visit. Steps users can use their personalized map to easily keep track of places and skip the hunt next time they’re looking for the best places to go.

If you’re a Zenly user looking for a new social mapping app, look no further than Steps—the best way to continue mapping your world.

Take your community to the next level.
